Clik Elite Large SLR Chest Pack

This SLR chest pack is an awesome idea for anybody active who likes to capture there experiences. The pack works great for hiking and light running. I found that the pack was too loose for running and biking, I don’t think it will be too difficult to retrofit the pack so that I can run and bike with it. The pack has enough room to store everything you need for a day of activity and shooting. Having the pack on your chest allows you to easily capture all of the action without having to miss a beat, perfect for anybody who is moving quick but still want to get shoots of the cool stuff on the trails. The harness system is comfortable and easily worn underneath any other backpack without causing any discomfort or shaffing. Hopefully with the next version of this pack Clik Elite will either make different harness sizes or make it so the harness that they currently has can be adjusted to a smaller size.

Salomon Quest 4D GTX

Here`s the perfect hiking boot for anyone who enjoys the feel of a trail runner but needs the support, stiffness and protection of a boot. The feel of this shoe is very similar to the XA Pro or the XT Wings from Salomon but offers the stiffness and protection of a large hiking boot. The boot didn`t seem to need any breaking in, and was light enough that I didn`t find my feet or shins fatiguing even after hours of hiking. All though the Quest 4D GTX is deceivingly light it still has all the features you`d expect in a heavy duty hiking boot: Gore-Tex waterproofing to keep your feet dry…a thermoplastic urethane midsole to protect you from the gound and provide flex and stability to the boot… and the Contragrip rubber outsole to keep your feeet nicely secured to the trail. Overall, the Salomon Quest 4D GTX is the best boot I`ve had the pleasure of wearing in many years.

Salomon XT Whisper

Nice and Light. The Salomon XT Whisper is little sister to it`s big sister, the XT Wings. The Whisper omits the Wing`s agile skeleton chassis but certainly still has the great cushioning for the Wings. The XT Whisper was a little narrower in the toe box but still offers enough room fro longer runs. You get the same great toe bumper to save your toes when you hit the rocks. These shoes felt nice and light on my feet.  They`re great for road running, trail running, and walking. I love the quick-lace system-so nice and easy for cinching up the laces on the go , and I never had to worry about them coming undone. If you like Salomon trail running shoes but are looking for something a little lighter but with the same great features then try out the XT Whisper.

Mountain Hardwear Talus Short

GREAT FOR ANYTHING… These lightweight 4-way stretch shorts are great for anything from strenuous exercise down to reading Out There magazine at Starbucks. The fabric is DWR-treated, with a UPF rating of 50+, giving excellent protection against UV rays. You’ll appreciated the seamless waist on these shorts as soon as you put your pack on and start hiking –the waistband is super soft and won’t irritate your skin. These shorts also teem with zip pockets for keeping your important items safe — no need to hike back along the trail looking for your keys!

Nathan Women’s Zone 2

The Nathan Zone 2 pack is another great pack for those longer runs or bike rides. The Zone 2 has more space to store extra food, water, gels and clothing, with a great harness structure that keeps it comfortable to wear during most activities. One very cool feature…the hydration system opens up from the back and the resevoir is attached to the back panel–easy access if you need to refill during a race. This pack is a step up in size from the Nathan Intensity pack but feels much the same. I heartily recommend this pack to women who don’t like the feel of wearing a hip belt on their packs when running but loves a pack that doens’t jump around.

Nathan Intensity Pack

This is the perfect pack for long or short runs. It holds 2L of water, has a pocket for a gel flask, and extra pockets for keys, ID and snack bars on the front for easy access. The intensity eliminates discomfort of a tight waistbelt and eases breathing. It doesn’t jump around when running or biking which makes it very comfortable. One might even forget it’s even there. It has women’s specific shoulder straps and is nicely designed to fit the female frame. I would recommend the Intensity pack to women who run or bike and want to carry water and some extra food. I use this pack for 24hr solo bike racing as well as it’s really easy to access food on the fly.

Montrail Wildwood TR

The Montrail Wildwood TR is a super fun, light, comfortable trail shoe. I have been for a couple of runs in this shoe now and I like it more and more each time I run in it. The cushioning is great, you can feel just enough of the trail beneath you to allow you to run fast without being out of control. My feet don’t get too hot in these shoes and they have more than enough cushion in them so that the bottoms of my feet are not sore or tired by the end of a run. Montrail has done a great job with this shoe, not as good as the Mountain Masochist but close. If you are in a store that sells Montrail I would definitely give these two shoes a go.

Wicked Lite Double Short Sleeved T

The Wicked Lite Double Short Sleeved T. I was unsure of this shirt when I first got it. I thought it would be annoying as the neck is quite tight and the material feels a little heavier than what I am used to for running and biking, however it performed great and stood up well to the abrasion test. I wore these shirts for my 24-hour solo bike race and they have not piled. Usually after 4 – 5 hours of constant use with a pack on the chaffing of the pack causes the shirts to pile. I have also worn these shirts during many of my recent runs with packs on and again I do not have any piling issues. I also have been very impressed that I have not noticed the shirt when running and biking. This is a good thing as I usually only notice a shirt only when it bothers me. These shirts are very durable and very comfortable, I would highly recommend them as your next active synthetic shirt.
