Chocolate Energy Balls

In a Food Processor blend all ingredients togeather. Leave some of the nuts out until the end if you would like the balls to have more crunchy texture.

4 Dates

1 Cup Almonds

1 Cup Pecans

1 Cup Pumpkinseeds

1 Cup Hazelnuts

1 Cup Coconut Unsweetend

1 Cup Rasins

3.5 Tbls Cocao Powder or Carob Powder

4 Tbls Hemp Protien

3 Tbls Agave Nectar

3 Tbls Coconut Oil

1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract

These energy balls have replaced all of our Gels and Bars that we used to use for racing. We now only eat these balls and other home made balls. I will post more energy food as our season gets rolling.

Please let me know your thoughts on my Chocolate Energy Balls. Thanks.

  1. Great sounding recipe. These look delicious and better than anything I have made (only experimented with making my own a little bit). Raisins and pumpkin seeds should be a good combo. How do you store them when you head out? How do they hold up when it gets really hot?

Still trying to find a way to top my all-time fav trail snack of Hammer chocolate flavour spread on to Clif Chocolate Almond Fudge though.

  2. Darcy thanks for the comments and thanks for the questions. Storage of them before going out – I keep them in a tupperware container in the frezzer. When I go out riding or running I put them in a ziplock bag or small container. The coconut oil seems too keep the balls togeather. They are great even in 30 degree weather no problems!! Let me know if you make them.

  3. I’m on batch number two of these balls and the killer cran orange ones. Freakin love them. They have replaced all bars, gels or jujubes that I used to use during my training. They are really delicious. So delicious, that I look forward to exercising because I get to have a treat. (I know pretty sad). I’ve forwarded this recipe onto a bunch of hard cores and they seem to enjoy them too.
My mom has also made these but she replaced the raisins with dried cranberries and they tasted awesome too.
    Thanks!
