Killer Cranberry Orange Energy Balls
Here is the newest recipe from Phil’s Raw Kitchen.
I have made this energy ball recipe to see if I can get away from chocolate. Every energy ball I have made in the past has chocolate in it and I want to make sure that I can make these things taste good without the chocolate.
Now here is the recipe.
In a food processor place:
1 cup Dried Cranberries
1 cup Raw Almonds
1 cup Walnuts
6 heaping Tablespoons of Hemp Protein
Zest from 2 Minneola or other sweet orange
9 Dates
Blend well. This will be the base for the energy balls. Once blended add:
3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil
1.5 Cups of unsweetend Coconut
1 Cup dried Cranberries
1/4 Cup Juice from the Minneola or sweet orange
1 Cup Pumpkin seeds.
Blend this for a shorter period of time. The longer you blend it the more like a comercial bar it becomes the less you blend it the more the balls will have some different textures and flavours. Pour contents of food processor into a big mixing bowl. Add:
1 Cup hulled hemp seeds.
Knead this until hemp seeds are mixed in. Then start forming the dough into balls. Store the balls in the freezer to ensure they are fresh when you eat them. Ball stay good for about 4 – 5 days at room temperature. Weeks if refridgerated and months in the freezer.
Thanks and enjoy. Please leave me a comment about these balls if you try them or make them thanks.

Would love to try these ‘energy ball’ recipes, some of the ingredients are hard to come by where we are.
Could you possibly recommend any alternatives for the Hemp Protein?
Do you think dried coconut flakes would have any merit instead of the other coconut ingredients?
Thanks Keith
Hey Keith,
Thanks for the questions. I would say the dried coconut flakes are fine to replace the coconut. The coconut oil however is used to help hold them togeather, I would look at using some honey to replace that, Add enough honey to get the balls to start sticking togeather in the food processor. As for the hemp powder you could always omit it or add some other non animal based protien powder (something other than Whey powder). If you can find hulled hemp seeds then just use more of those to replace the protien powder. Worst case senario leave out the protien powder.
Thanks Phil
I just tried out the Killer Cranberry Orange Balls today and they are awesome! Would highly recommend these as a less expensive and way better-tasting alternative to pre-packaged energy foods. Mmmmm, balls.
Hey Phil, these sound great, I’m going to try them tomorrow with seeds instead of the nuts!! Way to go.
I just made another batch of these, however I did not have any sweet oranges. I substituted fresh lemon juice and lemon zest. I also added 1 tbls of agave nector just to keep it sweet.
Great recipe! Once again, these balls are like candy to me! I’ve made these a couple of times and some of the people who I’ve shared them with, have actually like these better than the chocolate ones. So I’d say you succeeded in your “no chocolate” challenge! I didn’t have any hemp seeds (plus I sort of think hemp seeds taste like dirt) so I used sesame seeds instead. Just another option.
Thanks
I’ll try these! Seems like a lot of fat though?
