We have done a bunch of shopping and bought a tonne of food. Most of the food that we have bought is raw. We will see how this goes. We have some backup espresso shots and red bull just incase we need a pick me up in the middle of the night, but we will see what happens. The weather down here is hot, hot, hot. It was about 27 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky. We went for a quick 30 minute ride just to loosen up the legs and make sure the new Crank bros. pedals that we picked up from Mountain Bike City were good to go. Everything thing seems to be in order. We have 35 energy balls each and I have made about 18 litres of my new energy drink. We also have about 20 litres of fresh water to drink also. We have our Video cameras with us and a couple of still cameras aswell. Before we know it, it will be sunday at noon and we will be finished. I will post another entry about this race once all the dust settles. That one will have pictures and hopefully a video attached.

Here is the newest recipe from Phil’s Raw Kitchen.
I have made this energy ball recipe to see if I can get away from chocolate. Every energy ball I have made in the past has chocolate in it and I want to make sure that I can make these things taste good without the chocolate.
Now here is the recipe.
In a food processor place:
1 cup Dried Cranberries
1 cup Raw Almonds
1 cup Walnuts
6 heaping Tablespoons of Hemp Protein
Zest from 2 Minneola or other sweet orange
9 Dates
Blend well. This will be the base for the energy balls. Once blended add:
3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil
1.5 Cups of unsweetend Coconut
1 Cup dried Cranberries
1/4 Cup Juice from the Minneola or sweet orange
1 Cup Pumpkin seeds.
Blend this for a shorter period of time. The longer you blend it the more like a comercial bar it becomes the less you blend it the more the balls will have some different textures and flavours. Pour contents of food processor into a big mixing bowl. Add:
1 Cup hulled hemp seeds.
Knead this until hemp seeds are mixed in. Then start forming the dough into balls. Store the balls in the freezer to ensure they are fresh when you eat them. Ball stay good for about 4 – 5 days at room temperature. Weeks if refridgerated and months in the freezer.
Thanks and enjoy. Please leave me a comment about these balls if you try them or make them thanks.

In a Food Processor blend all ingredients togeather. Leave some of the nuts out until the end if you would like the balls to have more crunchy texture.
4 Dates
1 Cup Almonds
1 Cup Pecans
1 Cup Pumpkinseeds
1 Cup Hazelnuts
1 Cup Coconut Unsweetend
1 Cup Rasins
3.5 Tbls Cocao Powder or Carob Powder
4 Tbls Hemp Protien
3 Tbls Agave Nectar
3 Tbls Coconut Oil
1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
These energy balls have replaced all of our Gels and Bars that we used to use for racing. We now only eat these balls and other home made balls. I will post more energy food as our season gets rolling.
Please let me know your thoughts on my Chocolate Energy Balls. Thanks.
